BREASTMILK BABY CUSTARD
SAY WHAT?? Baby custard made from breastmilk? Why that’s right Queens, that’s what I’m sharing with you today!
You’ve heard of my breastmilk jewelry, breastmilk soap and breastmilk icy poles. I have a bunch of other recipes here too. Can you tell I love finding new and creative ways to use breastmilk?
Since I started breastfeeding (nearly 12 years ago), I have been on a MISSION to make the most of my liquid gold. It’s the most miraculous substance in the world, and to waste a SINGLE DROP of it is devastating.
All four of my little ones have LOVED this recipe. Although you could totally feed it to your baby with a spoon, it’s not how I fed my babes. I’m a total baby-led-weaner, and my kids enjoyed my breastmilk custard as a sweet, creamy dip for fruits or vegetables, smeared over bread or toast and sometimes even just dumped on their high chair tray so they could just go nuts – hello messy, yummy, sensory play!
Whenever I’ve shared this recipe with my breasties (AKA breastfeeding friends), they have come back to me with 5 star reviews!
And want to know what else is awesome about this recipe? You only need TWO ingredients – breastmilk and cornflour!
Breastmilk Baby Custard Recipe
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 3 minutes
Total time: 8 minutes
3tbs corn flour
1. Pour breastmilk into a small saucepan, over a low heat
2. Gradually sprinkle cornflour into the warming breastmilk, stirring as you go. Stirring in small amounts at a time helps you avoid lumps
3. Continue stirring until the mixture is thick
4. Remove saucepan from heat and allow to cool
5. That’s it!
Breastmilk baby custard is best enjoyed fresh. It can be refrigerated and reheated, but the texture changes and it doesn’t seem as nice.
Make sure you save/pin for later! Share with your breasties! And if you try this recipe, let me know what you think!
